The cricket gaming community has been lively with speculation about the future of Gods of Cricket, a multiplayer cricket simulator from India’s indie developer GNH Studio. With rumours of delays and questions about the project’s future, the studio has now stepped in to explain its plans and vision.
Current Status: Playtests and Server Upgrades
GNH Studio is getting ready for a closed playtest phase to make sure the multiplayer experience is smooth and free of lag. While there are no set dates yet, the studio is migrating servers to lower latency and improve gameplay for players around the world.
They also plan to start a developer blog. This blog will share updates from behind the scenes, sneak peeks, and raw gameplay clips with the community.
“While the current gameplay is ready for an early BETA release, we have decided to keep it in closed testing for now. Our priority is to ensure the experience is rock solid with no latency issues or disconnections before we take it to the public.” – Shravan Paidipala, CEO, GNH Studio
Gods of Cricket aims to improve the cricket gaming experience with several key features. Players can compete in different team sizes, ranging from 1v1 to 11v11 matches, which creates a dynamic and realistic cricket experience. A skill tree allows players to begin at street-level cricket and progress to international arenas, developing their abilities along the way. Real-time ball physics and a broadcast-style presentation ensure smooth gameplay with cinematic visuals. Early testers from Discord and social communities can influence how the game plays and feels, and loyal supporters will receive in-game recognition for their contributions.

GNH Studio has been careful in revealing their features due to concerns about larger studios copying them. “We’ve invested everything we have into this game, and shutting it down without launching it is not an option for us. Unfortunately, as we started sharing our features, we’ve seen some well-funded studios trying to duplicate what we’re creating. That’s why we’re cautious about revealing the complete design to the public,” the studio said. Despite these challenges, the team is dedicated to providing a competitive, immersive, and fresh cricket experience.
The studio sees Gods of Cricket as a long-term franchise with global appeal and esports potential. Paidipala stresses the need to rebuild trust with the community after months of silence: “Our top priority now is rebuilding that bridge with our community, not just with words, but with actions.” Planned initiatives include regular updates, developer blogs, early alpha testing for select players, and recognition for early supporters.
With rumours settling down, GNH Studio is focused on finishing the game and delivering a modern, competitive cricket experience. From street-level matches to international success, the project aims to give cricket fans another chance to shine in the virtual world. The game continues to develop, and fans are encouraged to stay connected through GNH Studio’s official Discord, Twitter, and Instagram channels for exclusive news and updates.
